එවකට පේරාදෙණිය උද්භිද උද්යානයේ අධ්යක්ෂ ධුරය දැරූ ත්වෙයිට්ස් (G.H.K Thwaites) විසින් පේරාදෙණිය අවටින් එකතුකර බ්රිතාන්ය කෞතුකාගාරයට යවන ලද නිදර්ශකයක් යොදාගනිමින් 1872 දී ඇල්බර්ට් ගුන්තර් විසින් Bufo kandianus ලෙස නම් තබා ඇත. පැරොටිඩ් ග්රන්තිය උඩු ඇහිබැම හා සම්බන්ධ වී ඇති නිසා අනෙකුත් Bufonidae කුලයේ සාමාජිකයන්ගෙන් වෙන් කොට හදුනා ගත හැක. පිදුරුතලාගල සහ සමනළ රක්ශිත වනාන්තරය ආශ්රිතව පමනක් හමුවන විශේෂයකි.
